APPROACH

The variety and complexity of clients' needs mean that no single discipline or technique can yield all the answers. Over the years, Carole has therefore developed a flexible, multi-disciplinary approach to rectifying health and physiological challenges.
This often involves close liaison with appropriate specialist practitioners to ensure that she always provides her clients with the safest, speediest and most effective treatment and outcome - whether in the form of her own tailored body work techniques, corrective exercise programmes, or lifestyle advice - as part of a properly integrated approach to their physical health.
In particular, it was through her growing interest in the rehabilitative training techniques developed by Paul Chek that, in 2003, Carole came to start working alongside Jon Bowskill and Andrew Jackson with a number of her clients. The collaboration expanded on both sides, which naturally led Carole to joining the team at The Bowskill Clinic in September 2010.
HOW IT WORKS

The cornerstone of Carole's approach is the personal coaching class.
Using information gained from a thorough preliminary assessment to identify the primary drivers (structural, medical, stress, energy levels, nutritional) of clients' impaired health or fitness, together with any relevant input from other healthcare specialists they may have consulted, Carole guides clients to set and attain their goals through an individual programme which evolves as their fitness and wellbeing levels improve.
Carole's training programmes integrate stretching, diaphragmatic breathing, balance and co-ordination, core activation, functional strength and fitness, rehabilitative and corrective exercises, sports specific training, vibrational training and cardiovascular conditioning. Also, as one of the earliest exponents of ballet barre exercises, Carole introduces these too into some clients' continually evolving class routines. Finally, because no two days are the same, each class is adapted to suit the energy and stress levels the client brings through the door.
While exercise will increase fitness, reshape bodies and aid recovery from injury, the ability to unwind and re-charge is equally important for achieving and maintaining general health and wellbeing. To complement the gym work, Carole has also developed a unique treatment/massage which incorporates lymphatic drainage, soft tissue and myofascial release, and remedial techniques, in a single comprehensive treatment lasting 1½ hours. The duration means that this massage is more than simply restorative, it also allows Carole to address any specific issues a client may have, for example, fluid retention, sluggish circulation, digestion and respiratory problems, stiff joints, head pain, sports injury, jet lag, recovery from illness or immune system breakdown.
The third element of Carole's work centres on nutrition and lifestyle.
In supporting the work of professional nutritionists with ongoing practical guidance about how their recommendations can be incorporated into busy family, social and working lives, Carole helps her clients achieve weight and other dietary targets that have previously eluded them.

But whoever the client - whether the most hardened of 'non-exercisers', a complete novice anxious about what personal training might entail, an experienced gym goer seeking a more effective and targeted programme, or a sufferer from chronic weight, dietary or mobility problems which others have failed to treat successfully - each has benefitted from Carole's absolute commitment to ensuring that they achieve measurable and sustainable results through her skill in correctly identifying and prioritising their needs, her knowledge in devising the appropriate programme, and her ability to keep them motivated.
